Sharad Pawar to convene NCP's working committee meeting in Delhi today

In the midst of the ongoing crisis within the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), party chief Sharad Pawar is set to hold a working committee meeting in Delhi.

The move comes as the battle for the party's name and symbol reaches the Election Commission. Pawar, however, emphasized that symbols are not significant if one holds a place in the hearts of the people.

Following the rebellion led by Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar addressed a party meeting in Mumbai. On Wednesday, he met with 16 MLAs and office-bearers of the party's frontal cells, collecting affidavits from party workers who expressed their trust in the leadership of Sharad Pawar and Jayant Patil.

Speaking to the party workers at the Y B Chavan Centre, Pawar urged them not to be concerned about the MLAs who have left the party, saying, "MLAs come and can go anywhere. Don't complain. Let them live happily, wherever they are. Till we are together, let's work to create a new generation of leaders." He emphasized the need to focus on nurturing new leaders within the party.

While Sharad Pawar conducted his meeting, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held a parallel gathering attended by 29 NCP MLAs.

During the meeting, Ajit Pawar expressed his aspirations to become the chief minister and called upon his uncle and party chief Sharad Pawar to retire, remarking, "You are 83, aren't you going to stop?"
